For the next instalment of our Inspiring the Next Generation series we spoke with Anthony Kelly to find out what he thinks it takes to be a professional decorator, the benefits of being a member of the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) and why he uses Purdy products.  

 

With over 30 years’ experience, Anthony Kelly began his career as a professional painter and decorator after completing an apprenticeship course at college. Having mastered his craft, he then went on to set up his own business, Anthony Kelly Decorating Contractor – a proud member of the PDA – which specialises in commercial and residential work across the North West of England. Now paving the way for his own apprentice, Anthony is a huge advocate for providing quality training and support in order to develop the next generation of talent. 

 

Anthony says that people have placed greater value on painting and decorating as an industry in recent decades, as homeowners want to create beautiful living spaces. He says that the demand for trade professionals is high as people require their skills to make their houses look how they want them to.

 

Anthony also believes that using quality brushes and painting tools is the route to success. He has used Purdy tools for around 20 years and says that they are the best painting products on the market.
